In 2025, China has issued a very special coin: a bimetallic 10-yuan coin commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the war against Japanese aggression and World War II . This is an official issue by the People's Bank of China , with a circulation of 80 million, which went into circulation on September 3 of this year.

A commemorative design

The obverse features the Chinese national emblem , with the inscription "People's Republic of China" in Chinese characters surrounding the figure. Below is the year: 2025.

The reverse is more narrative: in the center, the number "80" is integrated into a section of the Great Wall , a symbol of resistance. Below, the dates 1945-2025 commemorate the passage of eight decades since the end of the war. A laurel branch accompanies the motif, while the commemorative inscription and the value 10元appear on the outer edge.

Remembering history

The coin is not just a collectible. Its issue connects with a key moment in 20th-century history. Between 1937 and 1945, China fought the Japanese invasion in a war that later became part of the global stage of World War II. With Japan's surrender in 1945, the Allies won and a new world order began.

Eighty years later, the coin seeks to keep alive the memory of that collective effort and the lives lost in the conflict, while projecting a message of peace.
