The Bank of Luxembourg is issuing a new bimetallic coin in recognition of healthcare workers and the fundamental role they played during the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and who continue to work tirelessly to help others.
Specifically, it is a bimetallic piece, with a price of 25 euros and composed of 925 silver and copper, it has Proof quality and has just been officially issued.
On the left, the obverse of the coin shows a doctor with a protective mask and a butterfly in his hand, a symbol of the fragility of human life. A tricolor band representing the flag of Luxembourg illustrates the long and difficult path that health personnel had to travel during the pandemic. On the right side it bears the inscription "HELDE VUN DER PANDEMIE" (HEROES OF THE PANDEMIC). At the bottom is the face value, 25 euros.
The reverse shows the image of the head of state, Grand Duke Enri, looking to the right, the name of the issuing country, Luxembourg, and the year of issue, 2023.
