Despite the fact that the series of coins «Historia de la Aviación», issued in two parts during this month of December and already completed, has received some criticism from some collectors, I have been able to verify, by different means, that the collection is having good acceptance and both the Royal Mint and the professional numismatic merchants, are satisfied with the reception it has received from collectors both inside and outside our country.
With the entry that I dedicated to this series, where I presented the first five , and a small image of the remaining fifteen, I was going to conclude the information about these new coins, but seeing that they have aroused a lot of interest, I will go deeper in the pieces that I did not present to you in detail.
About the series I want to remind you that it follows the same line as the one issued between 2018 and 2019 under the name of "History of Navigation". The face value is the same, 1.5 euros, they are minted in a cupro-nickel alloy with a diameter of 33 mm, and the face on which each of the planes is presented is in full color.
Each of the coins is dedicated to an airplane model, taking a historical journey from the first flight of an aircraft to modern times. The selection of models, designs, and images of the airplanes represented in the collection has been made by the Mint and Stamp Factory-Real Casa de la Moneda, in collaboration with the Historical and Cultural Service of the Air Force.
The first five were put on sale together with an exclusive album, where you can keep the complete collection and an explanatory brochure of each of the aircraft represented in the coins, apart from a description of the Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Spain and of the minting process of the coins.
The remaining fifteen that complete the collection
On the reverse, common to the entire series, protruding from a central circle of the coin, the image of a two-bladed propeller is reproduced; above, in two lines and in capital letters, the legend AVIATION HISTORY; below the central image, the value of the 1.5 EURO coin and, below, the mint mark. Outside the central circle, the images of two turbines are reproduced, separated from each other by lines. Surrounds all the motifs and all the legends a beading of pinions.
Facial: 1.5 euros Composition: Cupronickel Weight: 15 g Diameter: 33 mm Maximum emission volume: 7,500 of each Price: € 16.94 VAT included
The price of the complete collection is € 338.80. Those interested can purchase them in the following stores with complete confidence ( Dracma - Monedalia - Carrasquilla ). In the aforementioned stores you will also find most of the coins that I present here. In case they do not have any at this time, they may receive them in the next few days, so do not hesitate to ask them.
To finish I leave you a real image of one of the coins in the series. As you can see, they come in their protective bag just like the 30 euro coins.
