The second coin in the series "Hungarian Sheepdogs and Hunting Dogs" is issued next Sunday, October 4, coinciding with World Animal Day. Dedicated to the Komondor or Hungarian Shepherd, its design is the work of Boglárka Imrei. In total there are nine coins that make up this series that began last year with the one dedicated to the Vizsla or Hungarian Pointer and of which one is issued for now per year.
On the obverse, a komondor in profile appears observing its surroundings. The central motif on the obverse captures the typical characteristics of this breed: its thick coat, similar to laces or dreadlocks, is perfectly capable of isolating heat and also protects the animal while it does its work. Its distinctive silhouette gives this dog its authoritative and iconic look. The legends, at the top 'MAGYARORSZÁGʼ (Hungary), on the right, the year of issue' 2020 ', on the left, the mint mark' BP 'which also contains a security feature, and at the bottom, the name '2000 FORINT'.
On the reverse, three komondors are shown working, in a typical guard position, making a reference to the fact that the komondors basically protect the herd and territory as a group. In the background of the prairie landscape, a representation of a farm with a shadow and a herd of grazing sheep is shown. In the upper legend you can read the name of the breed 'KOMONDOR'.
The collector's coin is made from an alloy of copper (75%), nickel (4%) and zinc (21%). It weighs 16 grams and has a diameter of 34 mm. The issue is limited to only 10,000 coins all in Proof quality.
