Coinciding with the worldwide launch of the new Astérix comic, "The daughter of Vercingétorix", with a circulation of more than five million copies in 20 different languages, the Monnaie de Paris once again honors the irreducible Gallic in its 60th anniversary with the issuance of four new currencies, two in silver with facials of 10 euros and two in gold with facials of 50 and 100 euros.
10 euro coins in silver
This coin has been designed for the launch of the new comic, "The Daughter of Vercingétorix." The title of the new comic is written on the top of the obverse of the coin, with the same typeface that appears in the albums of Asterix and presents a scene in which Adrenaline appears, the young daughter of Vercingétorix, king of the Gauls and protagonist of this latest comic.
The obverse of the second coin represents the evolution of the character of Idéfix from the creation of the comic until today. The bottom of the coin is covered with balloons or snacks intended to graphically integrate the text of the dialogues or the thinking of the characters.
The common reverse to the two 10-euro coins, presents Astérix emerging from an explosion worthy of one of his cartoons. The cult figure seems to have taken the magic potion and is ready to defeat the Romans. The legend «60 anniversaire» is shown at the top of the coin. The year of issue, the face value and the mint mark are shown on the right. Copyright marks are visible in the lower half circle of the piece.
