In Odessa, the first film studio of the then Russian Empire was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It was founded on May 23, 1919 from the remains of the film studios of Myron Grossman, Dmitriy Kharitonov and Borisov. In the 1930s, Odessa was considered the "Ukrainian Hollywood."
The Bank of Ukraine issues today, May 14, a coin of 5 grivnas minted on an alloy of alpaca or German silver, commemorating the «Centennial of the Odessa Film Studios».
On the obverse of the coin is shown: on the left the Small State Emblem of Ukraine, on which is the inscription UKRAINE; under the coat of arms on a matt background, the studio building, on the right of which is the inscription of the face value CINCO GRIVNAS; on the background in the form of film the inscription: 2019 and the logo of the film studio, with the inscription ODESSA FILM STUDIES; Complete the composition of the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine (below).
On the back of the coin is shown: a stylized inscription with the year of the foundation of the study, 1919; to the left at the bottom on a matte background, an old film camera; In the upper right part on the mirror background, a cinema clapper is shown (a tool that is used, among others, to synchronize the sound and the image).
