The Royal Australian Mint has launched a 2-dollar coin to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of more than 102,000 Australians who have died in war and other operations since 1885. The design of the piece is inspired by the Eternal Flame, located in the Australian War Memorial, it is located suspended on a pond inside the enclosure, considered as a symbol of eternal life that represents the memory and perpetual gratitude.
The coin shows on the reverse as central and colored motif the Eternal Flame in the Australian War Memorial, suspended over the pond. In the outer ring the facial value "TWO DOLLARS" (2 dollars), and "LEST WE FORGET- ETERNAL FLAME" (In order not to forget - eternal flame) are shown in text. The image of the coin appears with the mint mark "C", it is only present in the 40,000 coins sold in the portfolio. The rest of the coins, those that come to circulation, do not count on it.
The obverse shows, like all 2-dollar coins, the portrait and name of the queen "Elizabeth II", the name of the issuing country "Australia" and the year of issue "2018".
