This week we had the issue of the second currency of the Climate Zone Series in Germany dedicated this year to the Subtropical Zone, far from diminishing the interest among collectors, the long queues formed at the doors of the bank branches of the country that distributed it It makes us see that the success of this series is not a flower of a day, it has the blessing of thousands of people, who first get a handful or whole roll of coins (although I think it is limited to one per person), and then they have another "fun", since each German mint the currency that it emits has a color tone in the polymer ring, which makes it look for other collectors from other parts of the country where those with another tone have been emitted , this year orange, to complete the five different ones.

The reverse intends to show a winter image of humid subtropical zones with a Mediterranean climate, representing the typical flora and fauna of this climatic zone, such as domestic goats on the bushes, an umbrella-shaped tree that abounds in the area, and the sea at the bottom represented by a straight line on the horizon complete the composition. The design corresponds to the artist Patrick Niesel.

The obverse, common to the entire series, designed by the artist Stefanie Radtke, shows an eagle, the word "Federal Republic of Germany", the face value "5 euro", the year 2018, the twelve European stars and, depending on the mint, the mark of the Mint "A" (Berlin), "D" (Munich), "F" (Stuttgart), "G" (Karlsruhe) or "J" (Hamburg).

The smooth edge of the coin contains the inscription, in German, "climatic zones of the earth".

A total of 3.4 million (3 million in BU quality and 400,000 in Proof) are the pieces that have been issued.

The 5 euro coin "Zona Tropical" is made up of two different copper-nickel alloys and a translucent polymer ring. It weighs 9 grams and is produced in two grades of coinage, BU and Proof.
