Două noi monede vor fi puse în circulaţie în Angola (40 de ani de la independenţă)

As part of the celebrations for the 40th Anniversary of the Independence of Angola, a former Portuguese colony has issued two circulating coins with face 50 and 100 kwanzas commemorating the said event.

These coins have the same design, are minted in different metals.




With this issuance Angola completes its new series of coins from circulation began on February 18, 2013, when they were put into circulation, gradually replacing the old series dating back to 1999, four new coins with values ​​of 50 cents, 1, 5 and 10 kwanzas.



Already in 2014 he was one of 20 kwanzas, bimetallic, alluding to the 351 years of the death of Queen Njinga Mbandi, sovereign of the United Ndongo and Matamba. 






Independence of Angola


Angola War of Independence (1961 - 1975) was the longest conflict in Africa between Angolan independence and the Portuguese Colonial Empire. Portugal recognized the independence of Angola on November 11, 1975, through the Alvor Agreement.

Independence is not meant for Angolan a period of peace; but the continent's longest war. Long before the independence day of November 11, 1975, the FNLA unleashed the civil war attacking the MPLA. The three nationalist groups that had fought against Portuguese colonialism fought each other for control of the country, particularly in the capital, Luanda.
