The Swiss Mint (Swissmint) issued a few days ago, more specifically on November 8, the second coin in the trilogy of pieces dedicated to Swiss Cable Cars. Thus, the new piece for this month has as its protagonist the future Titlis cable car.
Titlis Project
Titlis, a mountain in the Uri Alps, has a summit of more than 3,000 meters high, in addition to being one of the most internationally renowned tourist destinations in Switzerland. The new project for this mountain range aims to create a USP – Unique Selling Proposition (Unique Selling Proposition) for Engelberg, a Swiss commune in the canton of Obwalden, and the rest of the region.
This project includes the new construction of an upper station, the extension of the directional tower and a new single-track cable car on the Stand-Titlis line, which in the medium and long term will contribute to the success of Engelberg as a four-season tourist destination. Titlis' competitive position as an excursion destination is world-renowned and will also be strengthened in the long term.
On the obverse of the coin we can see an impressive and detailed mountain massif that is part of the Titlis, on which a cable car appears with the name of the mountain itself. The text “Titlis” also appears above the design.
On the other hand, the reverse shows as a central motif a simplified representation of the Titlis mountain massif along with its meters of altitude "3,238 m". On the edge, read clockwise, are the words CONFOEDERATIO HELVETICA, the year of issue 2023, the mint mark "B", the face value 20 FR and the purity of the silver, 999.9, slightly shifted inwards.
