On the occasion of the Bicentennial of the Congress of the Republic of Peru, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) has issued a commemorative silver coin for the 200th anniversary of the First Constituent Congress (1822-2022).
This coin joins the collection of different commemorative coins that the BCRP has issued for the bicentennial of various institutions that were born after the independence of Peru in 1821.
On the reverse of the coin, the allegorical sculptural group of "The Constitution" can be seen,which is located in the central part of the main façade of the current building of the Congress of the Republic. The central female figure represents the "Political Constitution", the female figure on the left represents "Justice" and the one on the right represents the "Law". In the upper part the text 1822 – BICENTENARIO – 2022 is shown and in the lower part the phrase CONGRESS OF THE REPUBLIC.
On the obverse, there is the Coat of Arms, the text BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERU, the year of minting and the denomination in letters UN SOL.
