The second coin in the “Eternal Sculptures II” series, in which some of the most famous sculptures created by man are represented, dedicates its second piece to the work of the Italian sculptor, Francesco Queirolo, El Desengaño, El Disinganno in Italian, and often translated as Disillusionment.
Both the obverse and reverse of this precious 3 oz pure silver coin feature Smartminting technology with Ultra High Relief and Black Proof quality, coupled with a metallic marble effect finish.
The reverse of the coin features a detailed image in High Relief inspired by “Disillusionment”, made by the Genoese artist Francesco Queirolo in the 18th century. The masterpiece depicts a fisherman being released from a net by an angel. The net symbolizes sin. When the angel frees the man, he frees him from his evil deeds and presents him with the Bible, which rests at his feet. The image has a wonderful metallic marble effect and is surrounded by an ornamental frame with a typical Renaissance pattern and the inscriptions: “MMXXIII”, the year of issue in Roman numerals, “ETERNAL SCULPTURES II”, the name of the series and “DISILLUSION”, the name of the coin in English.
The obverse of the coin also features Smartminting High Relief technology and features a detail from the statue: the fisherman's hand caught in the net. To the left of the obverse, the Coat of Arms of Palau and, below, the inscription: “20 DOLLARS”, as face value.
