On February 27, 2025, the National Bank of Ukraine presented a new commemorative coin dedicated to the system of twelve astrological signs. This numismatic coin not only pays tribute to ancient astronomy and astrology, but also symbolizes the eternal connection between humanity and the universe.

The zodiac has been a fundamental tool for observing the heavens since ancient times. Ancient civilizations used it to orient themselves in time and space, predict seasonal changes and plan their agricultural activities. Throughout history, this knowledge was integrated into many cultures, becoming part of mythologies, religions and astrological systems. The new Ukrainian currency reflects this ancient tradition and the belief in the influence of the stars on human destiny.

On the obverse of the coin, on a plain background, the zodiacal constellations are represented organized in a circle divided into twelve equal sectors. In each sector, one of the signs of the zodiac appears, written in Ukrainian: ОВЕН, ТЕЛЕЦЬ, БЛИЗНЮКИ, РАК, ЛЕВ, ДІВА, ТЕРЕЗИ, СКОРПІОН, СТРІЛЕЦЬ, КОЗЕРІГ, ВОДОЛІЙ and РИБИ (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces). These signs are arranged counterclockwise, in line with the movement of the Earth's axis, symbolizing the continuous rotation of celestial bodies and the cyclical nature of time.

The centre of the obverse features the coin's face value of 10, the graphic symbol for the hryvnia, the inscription "УКРАЇНА" (Ukraine), the year of issue "2025" and the national emblem of Ukraine. In addition, additional constellations can be seen at the top and bottom of the design.

The reverse of the coin features a nostalgic and evocative scene: a child sitting on a small hill, gazing in fascination at the starry sky. This image symbolises innate curiosity, the desire for knowledge and an unbreakable bond with the homeland. In the background, there is a landscape of a quiet Ukrainian village at dusk, with houses, gardens and a windmill, which convey a sense of peace and harmony, recalling the warmth of childhood.

The coin was designed by Andrii Sahach and sculpted by Volodymyr Atamanchuk, two Ukrainian artists of great recognition in the field of numismatics. Their work has managed to capture the essence of the astrological tradition and the cultural connection with the universe through a detailed and symbolic design.
