The German government has decided to mint a collector's coin with a face value of 11 euros under the name "UEFA European Football Championship 2024." The coin focuses on one of the most popular major international sporting events, the European Football Championship, which takes place in the Federal Republic of Germany between Friday, June 14 to Sunday, July 14.

The commemorative side of the coin, designed by Detlef Behr, captures the iconic architecture of the roof of the Berlin Olympic Stadium, where the final match will take place. The soccer ball, around which everything revolves, appears in the center. In addition, the pitch is displayed in a stylized way, including the corner flags. The use of the colors black, red and gold refer to the host country. The "one" and "zero" that appear in the design can symbolically represent the result of a match or the ten host cities.

 

The obverse shows an eagle, the inscription "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND", the face value number and denomination "11 EURO", the year 2024, the twelve stars of Europe, the mint mark "A" of the Mint of Berlin and the indication of the metal and its purity «SILBER 500».

The smooth edge of the coin is engraved with the inscription: »VEREINT IM HERZEN EUROPAS ○» (UNITED IN THE HEART OF EUROPE ○). 

 

The coin is made of silver of 500 purity. It has a weight of 14 g, a diameter of 30 mm and is minted in two qualities, BU and Proof. Coins in BU quality can be exchanged at their face value (11 euros) at Deutsche Bundesbank branches. The Proof quality coins, presented as you can see in the image, have a price in Germany of €29.95.
