I show you real images of the gold coins issued by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre – Real Casa de la Moneda this year. As I already informed you at the time, it is the 2022 version of the coin dedicated to the Iberian Lynx, made up of a tenth of an ounce and a one-ounce piece dedicated to the Bull.

With these coins it is intended to project the image of our country and our culture, with the choice on the reverse of representative animals of Spain, and an image of the column, an unequivocal symbol of the historical Spanish silver coin world-renowned within the numismatic culture.

Iberian Lynx 2022 1/10 ounce gold coin

This is the little sister of the one issued in 2021 made of one ounce of gold and has the same design. It differs from the one ounce, apart from the weight and face value, that its edge is striated instead of smooth.

 

On the reverse, an image of the head of an Iberian lynx is reproduced. To its left, the Mint mark and the year of minting 2022. At the top of the coin, the face value 0.15 and the words EURO and CENT, in two lines and in capital letters. In the lower part and in a circular direction, the legend IBERIAN LYNX. Surrounding the motifs and legends is a gráfila of pine nuts.

 

The obverse reproduces the motifs and legends of a royal of eight, of the columnar type: two hemispheres under a royal crown, flanked by the columns of Hercules with the motto PLUS VLTRA, all of this on a sea with waves. At the top, in a circular direction and in capital letters, appears the legend FELIPE VI REY DE ESPAÑA. In the
lower part of the coin, in a circular direction, the legend 1/10 OUNCE 999.9 GOLD.
Surrounding the motifs and legends is a gráfila of pine nuts.

The 2021 1 ounce Lynx coin is priced 10% higher than gold, on the 1/10 ounce it is 22%. The difference is motivated by the increase in production work. If to produce an ounce all the work is done on a coin of this weight, to create coins of 1/10 of an ounce it is necessary to do this work 10 times for the same amount of metal.

2022 one ounce gold bull coin

For this year, the Lynx has been replaced by a Bull in the one-ounce coin and, predictably, in 2023 it will be another characteristic animal of our fauna. Rumors suggest that these coins will form a series of five in which animals linked to Spain will be represented.

 

On the reverse of the coin, an image of a bull is reproduced. To the left of it, the Mint mark and the year of minting 2022. To its right, in an ascending circular direction and in capital letters, the legend TORO. At the top, horizontally and in capital letters, the value of the piece is 1.5 EURO. Surrounding the motifs and legends is a gráfila of pine nuts.

As novelties with respect to the previous year dedicated to the Iberian Lynx, apart from the motif of the animal, we have a new image of the columns on the obverse, the edge has also had variation, it has gone from smooth to striated. 

 

But perhaps the most important and differentiating factor, and what makes it unique in the world of bullion coins, is the inclusion on the obverse of a security measure patented by the National Currency and Stamp Factory – Royal Mint, the image quadruple latent. This security measure allows you to see four different images in the same space on the coin depending on the incidence of light and the angle at which it is viewed. The mint mark, a five-pointed star, the graphic symbol of the euro and the silhouette of the column appear on the coin.

Considerations if I want to collect or invest in these coins

In the first place, as it is evident being gold, they are coins with a high price and you must take into account that it will mean a significant outlay over time. If you intend to make the collection, or you are already making them, you must insure the first of the series, this is always essential in any collection, since they are usually the ones with the greatest numismatic revaluation. The price of gold will always be the same for any of the currencies, the value of its price as a metal.

If you can afford it, choose one ounce coins, while for these you pay 10% more than the price of gold, those of 1/10 of an ounce amount to 22%.

Focusing on the series of one-ounce coins, we see that it is being a success, while the 2021 del Lince had a maximum issue volume of 12,000, the 2022 del Toro already rises to 15,000.

Do not rush and want to be the first to have this year's coins. As the price of the currency fluctuates according to gold, you must look for the right moment to acquire it, not by buying first you will make a better investment. This especially for the Bull coin, there are many months ahead to see the price trend of the metal and decide the right time to buy.

Be careful with the 2021 Lince coin. Here I would not expect much, the latest rumors suggest that more than 10,000 have been sold and the sales boost that those who start their collection with the Bull coin will give it and want to get it now with the Lince, it will mean that in a few months we will be talking about "SOLD OUT", then the price will no longer be marked only by gold. The "SOLD OUT" mark sells a lot in numismatics, and in the trade in general, and the Lynx can achieve that "title" in a short time.

Although some of these coins can already be seen for sale, their distribution in large quantities will not take place until the end of September or the beginning of October. Do not go crazy in wanting to be the first to have them, you will have a lot of time to find the right time to do it.
