The Bank of Russia put into circulation on May 6 four new 10-ruble coins from the "Cities of Labor Value" series, an honorary title given to cities that played an outstanding role in the production of products for the military and civilians. during World War II (Great Patriotic War).
Currently there are 32 cities that have this distinction, although with the passing of the dates it is expected that there will be some more, with which this series began last year with the first four coins (Borovichi, Yekaterinburg, Ivanovo and Omsk). , can reach about 40 pieces.

Izhevsk city
Izhevsk industrial enterprises supplied arms and ammunition to the Red Army. During the war years, Izhevsk enterprises provided the front with more than 12 million small arms. The production of aircraft, tanks, and ammunition was organized at the Irkutsk enterprises to aid the war effort. In May 1942, the tanks were delivered to a front-line military unit.

During the war years, Kazan became one of the most important rear centers of the Soviet Union. As many as 139 industrial enterprises in Kazan went on a war footing. These enterprises produced more than 600 types of weapons, ammunition and equipment for the needs of the Red Army, ensuring uninterrupted production operations and the delivery of weapons to the front lines. One out of every six combat aircraft was produced at the Kazan aviation factories. Thanks to technical innovations, Sergei Korolyov and Valentin Glushko created the first Russian-made RD-1 liquid-propelled jet engine.

During the Great Patriotic War, the city produced armor and shell steel, which was the most valuable material for the defense industry. About 100 types of defense products were produced at the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works. One in two tanks and one in three shells used against the Nazi invaders were made from Magnitigorsk metals.
