On the Hungarian Poetry Day on April 11, 2022, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Bank of Hungary) has issued a silver collector's coin with a face value of 15,000 guilders and a cupro-nickel coin with a face value of 2,000 guilders, both with the same design, to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Ágnes Nemes Nagy, a Hungarian poet, writer and educator.

Ágnes Nemes Nagy (1922-1991) was a Kossuth and József Attila prize-winning poet, literary translator and essayist. She began publishing her works in magazines in 1945. Her first book of poetry appeared in 1946. With her husband Balázs Lengyel, also a writer and literary critic, she founded "New Moon", a literary magazine, in the same year. Luna Nueva intended to give continuity to the ideas of the "Occidente" magazine and bring together a young generation of writers. During the years of the dictatorship, Ágnes was allowed to publish almost exclusively as a literary translator and author of children's literature.

His first volume of poetry won him the Baumgarten Prize at an early age, in 1948. In 1969 he received the József Attila Prize for his first volume of collected poems, and later, in recognition of a lifetime's work, the Kossuth Prize in 1983. In 1997, she and her husband received Yad Vashem's honorary title of "Righteous Among the Nations" for their life-saving activities during World War II. Since 1998 she is a posthumous member of the Hungarian Digital Literary Academy.

On the obverse, the visualization of the poem “Statues that I carried” by Ágnes Nemes Nagy appears as a central motif: a stylized representation of a sinking sailboat with three statues of giant heads on its deck. The first line of the poem is inscribed on the surface of the water in the Kossuth Prize-winning poet's handwriting. The poem, which also appears on the tombstone of the poetess, puts into words the central question of the entire poetic production of Ágnes Nemes Nagy: the dilemma faced by creative men, in bare phrases so characteristic of her poems, using the instrument of objectivity. The obverse also bears the inscription "MAGYARORSZÁG" (Hungary) in a circular upper legend, the year of issue "2022" and the mintmark "BP.", arranged in two lines, one below the other.

The reverse of the coin features the portrait of Ágnes Nemes Nagy, with her books in the background, and a portrait of Mihály Babits, her literary example. On the edge of the reverse is the circular legend “NEMES NAGY ÁGNES” and the inscriptions “1922” and “1991”, the years of birth and death of Ágnes Nemes Nagy, broken in two lines on the left. Designer Balázs Pelcz's master mark is located on the lower left of the reverse, positioned above the portrait.
