The Universal Exhibition of Dubai 2020 was going to be held at the beginning of October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, the global mega-event had to be delayed to new dates, if circumstances permit. will now take place from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
Despite the delay, the Bank of Luxembourg has issued the currency it had planned for the occasion. It is a bimetallic coin with an unconventional shape, dedicated to the Dubai Expo 2020. Minted by the Polish Mennika Polska in Proof quality on an alloy of Nordic gold and 925 silver, the piece has an issue volume of so only 2,000 units.
The pavilion that will represent the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at Expo 2020 is the main figure featured on the coin.
