Thanks to colleagues Gerhard Schön and Numisfreund, we are going to know what the second commemorative 2-euro coin from the Vatican will look like for this 2020 dedicated to the "500th anniversary of the death of Raphael", Italian painter and architect of the Renaissance. Like practically all the coins that the Vatican issues, you can see from the image that they have given me, it is a very beautiful coin.
The design on the obverse shows an image of Raphael according to the fresco "The School of Athens" painted by Raphael himself and which, with a size of 550 x 770 cm, is preserved in the Vatican Museums in Rome. Next to the self-portrait is a fragment made up of two angels from Rafael's work entitled "The Sistine Madonna" painted approximately between 1513 and 1514 and which is preserved in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden (Germany).
Description of the coin, Carlos Peláez.
As you can see it is a Proof quality coin. For some years now, the Ufficio Filatelico e Numismatico Vaticano has made available to its subscribers commemorative 2-euro coins in two qualities, the one already mentioned, and the one that has always been issued in BU quality.
For now I do not have official information from the Vatican, at the time I have it I will expand the data on this currency, such as volume or date of issue, price of each of the versions for subscribers and some other information.
