On March 17, the Italian Mint (IPZS) issued a one-kilogram silver coin dedicated to Rome's monumental Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater.

OBVERSE

The obverse of the coin features a representation of the Colosseum in the center. Around the edge of the composition is the inscription "REPUBBLICA ITALIANA" and a laurel wreath. At the top are the initial "R," identifying the Rome Mint, and "2026," the year of issue. At the bottom of the design is the signature of the designer, "A. Vecchio," Antonio Vecchio.

REVERSE

The reverse of the coin features a central image of the Colosseum seen from above, with a reconstruction of its floor plan. In the background is a map of ancient Rome, highlighting the consular roads. The inscription “COLOSSEUM – FLAVIAN AMPHITHEATER” appears along the top edge of the composition, while the inscription “ROME” appears at the bottom, and the face value “25 EURO” is displayed to the right of the design.
