On July 16, 2025, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru put into circulation the third coin of the Numismatic Series “Peruvian Pre-Columbian Ceramics” , dedicated this time to the Vicús culture .

The Vicús culture flourished between 500 BC and 500 AD in the valleys of Piura, extending into present-day southern Ecuador. They were noted for their refined ceramic sculptures depicting human, animal, and everyday scenes, as well as their iconic whistling vessels. They were also highly skilled in gold, silver, and copper metallurgy, creating jewelry and ceremonial objects. Their society was hierarchical and agricultural, with advanced irrigation systems.

This collection, consisting of 11 coins , seeks to disseminate Peru's valuable cultural heritage through a widely used means of payment and to foster interest in numismatic culture.

On the reverse, in the center, we see a vessel depicting a crested duck with a globular body, a bridge handle, and negative wavy decoration. This ceramic is housed in the Museum of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. The phrase "CULTURA VICÚS" (VICUS CULTURE) can be seen at the top of the coin, while the denomination and the name of the currency are visible below. Also visible on the right is a geometric design of vertical lines and the mark of the National Mint, and on the left is the phrase "CERÁMICA PRECOLUMBINA" (PRE-COLUMBIAN CERAMICS).

On the obverse, in the central part, the Coat of Arms of Peru can be seen surrounded by the legend “BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ”, the year of minting and an inscribed eight-sided polygon that forms the edge of the coin.
