In 2025, the Monnaie de Paris will celebrate with these new broadcasts the centenary of the French tennis championship, which became the French Open in 1925 and has been held at Roland-Garros since 1928.
Organized by the French Tennis Federation, Roland-Garros is the only Grand Slam tournament played on clay, one of the oldest and most noble surfaces in the history of tennis. Modernized over the years with innovative infrastructure, the stadium combines tradition and modernity.
Every year, its vibrant atmosphere attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators from around the world, as well as millions of television viewers, making the tournament one of the world's most important sporting events. One hundred years after reaching international stature, Roland-Garros remains a symbol of history and passion for tennis, with an eye always on the future and excellence.

10€ silver coin
The obverse and reverse of the coin depict the baseline of a tennis court. In the background, the Roland-Garros stadium moucharabieh, an emblematic decorative motif that adorns the exterior of the Philippe-Chatrier court, can be seen. In the center of the coin, a tennis racket with a ball resting on it is depicted. The letters "RF" appear on the obverse, while the face value is on the reverse. The inscriptions "pile" (heads) and "face" (tails) allude to the "toss" that takes place at the beginning of each match. In this ritual, the chair umpire tosses a coin, and the winning player decides whether to serve or receive, or chooses the side of the court. It is a swift and equitable method of starting the match.
