We do not know if the new coin that will be issued in China in a few days, on November 19, is part of a series, everything seems to indicate that it is, but what is clear is that this piece and one issued last year dedicated to the same theme are of great beauty and will look great in our collections.

A total of 60 million commemorative circulation coins with a face value of 5 yuan dedicated to Peking Opera will be issued. This type of Chinese opera was first performed in the mid-19th century and became extremely popular in the Qing Dynasty court. It is considered one of the greatest expressions of Chinese culture and was recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on November 16, 2010.

The reverse of the commemorative coin features images of female roles of Chinese Peking Opera, with a combination of color patterns and decorative graphics, and is inscribed with the Chinese words “中国京剧艺术” (Art of Chinese Peking Opera) and the denomination “5 yuan”.

The obverse of the coin features the national emblem of China, with the country's official name "中华人民共和国" (People's Republic of China) inscribed above and the year 2024 below.

Below we see a real image of the coin issued last year and dedicated to the same theme. Both share the same characteristics and volume of issue.
