On September 18, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru issued a new coin commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of the Italian scientist Antonio Raimondi, a renowned scholar of Peruvian flora, fauna and geology and promoter of research and development of natural sciences in
Peru, as well as the scientific dissemination of his time.
On the reverse of the coin, the bust of Antonio Raimondi is shown surrounded by the phrase “I SEEMED I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH EYES TO SEE EVERYTHING”, expressed when seeing “the swarm of various plants” in the central jungle in San Ramón (Chanchamayo). Next to the bust is his signature and at the bottom the period commemorated “1824-2024”.
The obverse features the Coat of Arms, the text “BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ”, the year of issue and the denomination “UN SOL”.
