Just four years after the first coin in this collection was issued, it is already a classic among numismatic issues in our country. I am referring to the investment-collection coin that is issued annually by the National Mint and Stamp Factory – Royal Mint, and that next Thursday, June 27, it will make available to collectors and investors the piece corresponding to 2024 that This time the Imperial Eagle will be the protagonist.

In 2021, Spain joined a select group of countries that mint this type of currency with the issuance of a piece composed of one ounce of pure gold in which the protagonist was the Iberian Lynx on one side and on the other a royal of columnar type, unequivocal symbol of the historical Spanish silver coin world-renowned within numismatic culture. The columnar motif continues to be the motif represented on all coins, although in 2022 it underwent modifications making it much more attractive and recognizable.

The common link of this collection of coins, apart from the image of the column, is that animals closely linked to Spain are represented. To date they have been: Iberian Lynx in 2021, Bull in 2022, Cartujano Horse in 2023 and in a few days the Imperial Eagle.

These coins, which are linked to the price of gold, are currently priced at around 2,400 euros. For those who would like to have this type of coin but cannot afford it, there is also a tenth-ounce version with the same design that is usually issued the following year. Thus, the Imperial Eagle will be issued in 2025, if everything continues as it has been.

ONE OUNCE GOLD COIN DEDICATED TO THE IMPERIAL EAGLE

 

On the reverse, an image of an imperial eagle is reproduced. To its left, in a descending circular direction and in capital letters, the legend IMPERIAL EAGLE appears; To its right, the year of minting 2024. At the top, horizontally and in capital letters, appears the value of the piece, 1.5 EURO; Below, the Ceca mark. A graphic of pine nuts surrounds the motifs and legends.

 

On the obverse, there is a representation of the motifs and legends of a columnar royal: two hemispheres under a royal crown, flanked by the columns of Hercules with the motto PLUS VLTRA, all on a sea with waves. In the upper center of the piece, within a circle, in the form of a quadruple latent image, the Ceca mark, a five-pointed star, the graphic symbol of the euro and the silhouette of the column appear. At the top, in a circular direction and in capital letters, the legend FELIPE VI KING OF SPAIN appears. At the bottom of the coin, in a circular sense, the legend 1 OUNCE 999.9 GOLD. A graphic of pine nuts surrounds the motifs and legends.

A CURRENCY WITH A UNIQUE SECURITY MEASURE

 

An element that makes this coin unique among the bullion (investment) coins is the inclusion on the obverse of a security measure patented by the National Mint and Stamp Factory itself – Royal Mint, the quadruple latent image. This security measure allows you to see four different images in the same space on the coin depending on the incidence of light and the angle at which you look at it. The coin features the Mint mark, a five-pointed star, the graphic symbol of the euro and the silhouette of the column.
