Issued by the Bank of Russia on May 28, a new 3 ruble coin belonging to the "Cities" series, a piece that on this occasion is dedicated to commemorating the 650th anniversary of the founding of the city of Kirov.

Kirov

Kirov is an important Russian city, as well as the administrative center of the Kirov region. The city is an independent municipality with urban district status. Kirov is located on the banks of the Vyatka River, 896 km from Moscow, and is one of the oldest cities in Russia, founded in 1374. For almost 200 years, the city was known as Khlynov, in 1780 it was renamed Vyatka, and in 1934 it obtained its modern name.

Since ancient times, the city has been known as a center of trade and craft industry. Vyatka's economy was based on the manufacturing and processing of agricultural products. Small enterprises producing leather, candles, sheepskin, matches and paper contributed considerably to Vyatka's economic potential.

In addition, Kirov is an important industrial and transport center, the main railways passing through the city connect the Northwest and the Center with the Urals, Siberia and the Far East, as well as with the northern regions of Russia. Kirov is also known for aeronautical engineering, wood processing, heavy engineering, machine tool construction, and light and food industries. It also produces folk craft items, such as the famous Dýmkovo toys and birch wood souvenirs.
 

The reverse contains relief images of the sculptural composition Meeting Place, the Children's Space Center building named after Viktor Savinykh and the Vitberg House on the image of an urban landscape. The three-line inscription “КИРОВ 650 ЛЕТ” (KIROV 650 YEARS) also appears on the upper edge of the design.
 

On the other hand, on the obverse, it has the relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the upper semicircular inscription of the issuing country "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed with diamonds. Below the coat of arms is the chemical symbol for the metal, the fineness, the fine metal content and the mint mark. In three lines, below, there is the inscription «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), the face value of the coin «3 РУБЛЯ» (3 RUBLES), and the year of issue «2024 г.» (2024).
