The Vatican State Mint continues the “Art and Faith” cycle by dedicating the 20 euro copper coin to Michelangelo's Creation of Man.
The artist Antonella Napolione reproduces on the reverse of the coin one of the most popular and well-known paintings in the world: the Creation of Adam. This fresco was painted by Michelangelo Buonarroti around 1511 and is part of the vault of the Sistine Chapel. Adam,
lying on the ground, looks towards the Creator, extending his left hand towards him. God, suspended on a cloud, extends his right hand toward Adam in the act of giving him life.

20 euro coin – 250th anniversary of the founding of the Pontifical Lateran University
Inspired by the mosaic on the back wall of the Aula Magna, the artist Patrizio Daniele represents on the reverse of the coin Jesus sitting on a throne with his right hand raised in the act of blessing; In his left hand he holds the closed Gospel on whose cover the letters alpha and omega appear “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 22:13). 
On the obverse of the coin, on both sides of the papal shield, the artist Patrizio Daniele presents the two statues of Saints Peter and Paul that adorn the entrance to the University.

The second coin, also of 20 euros in copper, is an extraordinary issue dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Pontifical Lateran University, whose origins date back to 1773, when Pope Clement XIV commissioned the faculties of Sacred Theology and Philosophy of the Roman College for the clergy of Rome. In 1932, Pope Pius XI assigned the University its definitive location in the Basilica of Saint John Lateran.
