The Austrian Mint continues the issuance of its series dedicated to the Language of Flowers, with the issuance, on September 13, of the fifth coin in the series, dedicated to Chamomile

Like all coins in the Language of Flowers series, the chamomile features an engraving taken from real flowers. Faithful to the smallest detail, they are pressed using a special technique that captures them in their natural state. In the language of flowers, chamomile means "strength in difficult situations" and "energy in adversity." This makes a lot of sense, given chamomile's many healing and magical properties, its uplifting aroma, and its delicious daisy-like flowers.

Known to the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans and used for centuries to cure a wide range of illnesses, chamomile was believed by the Anglo-Saxons to be one of nine sacred herbs with special powers to ward off disease and evil. This simple but powerful herb has been used in magical spells for peace, purification, protection and self-esteem. It is also attributed with magical powers to attract luck, love and prosperity, as well as to release the pain of lost love and help people leave behind resentment, guilt and anger. Humans are not the only ones who enjoy the many benefits of chamomile.

Alongside an elegantly printed ornamental image of the chamomile, the reverse of the coin displays prints of actual chamomiles in bloom.

On the obverse of the coin, chamomile flowers adorn the hair of a young girl symbolizing vitality. On her shoulder is a phoenix, a mythical bird that represents renewal and rebirth since ancient times. Beyond her is the silhouette of a spear.

ABOUT THE BROADCAST OF THE SERIES

The seven pieces that make up the collection have a facial value of 10 euros, as in all those issued by the Austrian mint in this value, adapting to all pockets, depending on the metal and quality. We have the copper one, which is quite affordable, and then two silver versions.

None of the main flower images in the series are based on a drawing or illustration: the starting point of each coin's design is a real flower grown in the garden, which is then pressed using a special technique that captures the flower in its natural state.
