On March 28, the commemorative 2-euro coin belonging to the series dedicated to Spanish places included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, dedicated to the Old City of Cáceres, was issued and put into circulation. Today we are going to learn, thanks to a small report made by Television de Extremadura, the ins and outs of the creation of this new currency.
Alfonso Martínez Morales, chief engraver of the Fábrica Nacional de la Moneda y Timbre – Real Casa de la Moneda, explains the reason for the motif chosen to be represented in the piece, the people behind this work, or the time that elapses between the design is decided, until the coin is ready for circulation.
It is a shame how short this news broadcast on regional television lasts, but it is nonetheless very interesting.
