Belonging to the “Dinosaurs of Portugal” series, the third and last coin in the series was issued in Portugal today. On this occasion, the species to which it is dedicated is Miragaia longicollum, a dinosaur that lived in the Upper Jurassic, 150 million years ago. This coin and all the coins in the series have been designed by Joana Bruno, a graduate in archeology and a specialist in scientific illustration.

Miragaia longicollum is the only known species of the extinct genus Miragaia ("of Miragaia") of stegosaurid thyreophore dinosaur, which lived in the late Jurassic period, approximately 150 million years ago between the Kimmeridgian and Tithonian stages, in what is today Europe. It was discovered in 2009 by Octávio Mateus, in the Portuguese region of Miragaia, from which its name comes. The type and only known species, Miragaia longicollum, is named in reference to its long neck.

The coin has two versions, like almost all the collector's coins issued in Portugal, one of the "classic" style and the other colored that glows in the dark. The novelty compared to other similar series is that it has fluorescent inks on both sides, so the coin has elements that light up in the dark, on one side, and on the other.

The reverse of the coin shows the dinosaur in a frontal position with its head and tail turned to its right side, in the lower area the ground and a tree are represented, on the left edge the name of the author "JOANA BRUNO" and the legend "CASA DA MOEDA", and on the edge of the upper right quadrant the scientific name of the species "Miragaia longicollum".

The central field of the obverse shows the spiral dinosaur fossil, in the center the face value and the national coat of arms, and on the left side the legends "PORTUGAL" and "2023".
