Between 2021 and 2022, The Royal Mint issued the first part of a collection of investment coins called "Myths and Legends", in three coins, in versions of 1 ounce of gold or one ounce of silver, paying tribute to the adventures of Robin Hood and his main characters.

Belonging to the same collection of "Myths and Legends", a new series dedicated on this occasion to King Arthur begins, where there will also be three coins that make it up and they will also be minted in the same metals and weights.

The first coin in this second series of Myths and Legends features King Arthur, the mythical figure often portrayed as a fearless warrior, noble king, and chivalrous leader of the Knights of the Round Table. The story of Arthur, a legend that has been pieced together over time, first appeared in Welsh chronicles of the 9th and 10th centuries, and his ambivalence continues to perpetuate his appeal.

Illustrator David Lawrence has created a design whose epicenter is the legendary king, dressed in royal clothes, sitting astride a horse and brandishing Excalibur, his legendary sword. In the background is Camelot, the legendary castle where the Knights of the Round Table held court.

The obverse of both coins still shows the traditional portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II of England, the work of Jody Clark.

These pieces minted in both one ounce of gold or one ounce of silver, are bullion or investment type coins, their sale price fluctuates according to the price of metals.

Myths and Legends Series – Robin Hood

 

The first series, now completed, explored the story of Robin Hood, beginning with the legend himself, then focusing on his adventurous and resourceful companion Lady Marian, and concluding with his trusted companion, Little John.
