On August 14, 1942, the animated film Bambi was released in the United States, produced by Walt Disney Productions. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of this timeless classic that stole the hearts of all Disney fans and movie lovers, a full color coin, composed of one ounce of pure silver, is issued.
Officially licensed, this coin features a colorized image of Bambi and Thumper against a forest background, where flecks of frost accent the silver and enrich the design. A flash of silver can also be seen under Bambi's hooves. Engraving on the underside confirms that this is a 1 oz. 999 fine silver coin and features the Disney license mark.
As legal tender, the obverse includes the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. To make the coin more attractive, the circulation is only 1,942 units, as a nod to the year of the film's release.
It comes in a special edition box for Bambi's 80th anniversary, featuring a larger image of the coin featuring Bambi, Thumper and the other woodland creatures. A certificate of authenticity is printed on the back of the case along with the coin number.
