This year, specifically on October 20, the first German coin of a new series called “The Wonderful World of Insects” is issued, the name of the piece that starts the collection is “Kingdom of Insects”.

When the first has not yet been broadcast , the second in the series has already been presented, which will be broadcast during the first quarter of 2023 and will be dedicated to the "Seven-point Ladybug".

This collection of 5 euro facial coins will consist of a total of nine pieces with partially colored motifs, spanning the years 2022 to 2024. Set against the background of current events (extinction of insects), the series focuses on a special group of animals that constitute an important part of the planet's natural heritage.

The obverse shows a ladybug flying in its natural environment. The image makes visible features, such as the rear wings, that we don't usually see. 

The reverse, where the face value appears, 5 euro, is common to all the coins in the series and shows a stylized eagle that represents the Coat of Arms of Germany. The inscription "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND" (Federal Republic of Germany), the face value number and currency, the year 2022, the twelve European stars, as well as the "A" mark, corresponding to the Berlin Mint, complete the composition.

The edge of the coin is smooth and engraved with the inscription "WUNDERWELT INSEKTEN" (THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF INSECTS).

The 5 euro “Seven-Spotted Ladybug” collector's coin is made of a copper-nickel alloy. It has a weight of 9.68 g, a diameter of 27.25 mm and will be minted in two qualities: BU and Proof. The former will be marketed at face value (5 euros). Those of superior quality will be at a higher price, yet to be determined.

The coin was designed by artist Anna Martha (insect side) and artist Andre Witting (face value side).

In the near future we will see more coins from this collection that have been presented this week.
