Latvia announces the issuance of a national commemorative 2-euro coin for April 12. Taking advantage of the fact that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Bank of Latvia, the currency is issued under the name “Financial Literacy”.
Financial literacy is an important ability to understand and effectively use a variety of financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing. Financial education is the foundation of our relationship with money and is a lifelong learning journey.
The national side of the coin, designed by Reinis Pētersons, shows a stylized tree that symbolizes financial education and prosperity. This coin shines in your hand when you move it. The name of the country (LATVIJA) and the year of issue (2022) are also featured on the coin. The edge of the coin, like all 2 euro circulation coins of the Republic of Latvia, bears the inscription “DIEVS * SVĒTĪ * LATVIJU *” (God bless Latvia). The person responsible for the minting was the UAB Lietuvos monetų kalykla (Lithuania).
The issue volume is 408,000 pieces. 400,000 will be issued in rolls of 25 coins destined for circulation on Tuesday, April 12, along with another 8,000 in BU quality presented in coincard.
