Next Monday, December 20, the Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre - Real Casa de la Moneda, will issue a new series of collectible coins dedicated to commemorating the 275th Anniversary of the birth of Francisco de Goya. There are a total of five coins in which some of the most famous works of the great painter are represented. Three pieces of 10 euros with a square shape in silver, one of 50 euros also in silver, and another of 400 euros, the latter minted in gold.

Francisco de Goya was one of the greatest artists in history. Always innovative, he managed to get ahead of each and every one of the pictorial movements that appeared in Europe, from Romanticism to Surrealism, through Impressionism and Expressionism. He is therefore considered the Father of Contemporary Art.

SUN VISOR

 

 The obverse of the first piece reproduces in color the work entitled "El parasol", made by Francisco de Goya y Lucientes in 1777, which is kept in the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid. The motifs are surrounded by an allegorical graphic of the Goyesque strawberry tree, interrupted in the lower part by a sector in whose interior appears, horizontally and in capital letters, the legend EL QUITASOL.

SEMI SINK DOG

 

 The obverse of the second piece reproduces in colors the work entitled "Half-sunken dog ", made by Francisco de Goya y Lucientes between 1820 and 1823, which is kept in the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid. The motifs are surrounded by an allegorical graphic of the Goyesque strawberry tree, interrupted in the lower part by a sector in whose interior appears, horizontally and in capital letters, the legend SEMIHUNDIDO DOG.

THE KITE

The obverse of the third piece reproduces in colors the work entitled "The Comet", made by Francisco de Goya y Lucientes between 1777 and 1778, which is kept in the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid. The motifs are surrounded by an allegorical graphic of the Goyesque madroñera, interrupted in the lower part by a sector in whose interior appears, horizontally and in capital letters, the legend LA COMETA.

Common Reverse

 

 On the reverse (common to the three pieces), the statue of Goya is reproduced, made by Mariano Benlliure Gil in 1902 and located in front of the Puerta de Goya of the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid. On your left the mint mark; to its right, in the upper part, the face value 10 EURO, and below the legend ESPAÑA 2021, in two lines
and in capital letters. The motifs and legends are surrounded by an allegorical graphic of the Goyesque madroñera , interrupted in its lower part, horizontally and in capital letters, by the
legend 275 FRANCISCO DE GOYA ANNIVERSARY.

On the left, in an ascending circular direction, the legend SPAIN, and on the right the year of minting 2021, in a circular direction. The motifs and legends are surrounded by an allegorical graphic of the Goyesque madroñera, interrupted in the upper left by the image of the Aragonese painter's signature, and in the lower part by a sector in whose interior appears, in a circular sense and in capital letters, the
