Apart from revealing the issues to you, something I already did on October 21, we already know much more information and especially the images that will present the three commemorative 2-euro coins that Italy will issue in 2022, two of a national type dedicated to the «30th anniversary the death of judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino "and the" 170th anniversary of the founding of the Polizia di Stato ", and the common one for the" 35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Program ".

30th anniversary of the death of judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino

This coin pays tribute to the anti-mafia judges, Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, on the 30th anniversary of the Sicilian mafia assassinating them in 1992, as a form of revenge by Cosa Nostra for the maxiprocess against several mafia bosses.

The coin represents the portrait of the two Italian magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino inspired by a photograph by Tony Gentile. At the top appears the inscription "FALCONE - BORSELLINO"; then the dates «1992 2022», which correspond to the year of the assassination of the magistrates and the year of issue of the coin and in which the sad anniversary is fulfilled, between the dates is inserted the acronym of the Italian Republic «RI »; to the right is the letter "R" from the Rome Mint; on the left, «VdS», initials of the author, Valerio de Seta. The twelve stars of the European Union, as always in this type of coin, appear in the outer ring.

The issue volume for this coin is 3,000,000 pieces that will be issued on a date to be determined.

170th anniversary of the founding of the Polizia di Stato

The Polizia di Stato is the national police force of the Italian State. It is a civilian police and security body dependent on the Ministry of the Interior. It is the Italian counterpart of other police forces, such as the National Police Corps in Spain.

Founded in 1852 as "Corpo delle Guardie di Pubblica Sicurezza" (Corps of Public Security Guards), the body has been demilitarized since 1981 and renamed "Polizia di Stato".

The coin shows two agents of the Polizia di Stato, a man and a woman, in the foreground, just behind a police car. At the top appears the inscription "POLIZIA DI STATO"; on the right, «RI», acronym for the Italian Republic; Bottom left is the letter "R", the mint mark of the Rome Mint, on the right the dates "1852-2022", year of foundation of the Polizia di Stato and year of issuance of the currency. The entire central composition is surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union.

The issue volume for this coin is 3,000,000 pieces that will be issued on a date to be determined.

35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Program

Created in 1987, the Erasmus Program is a management plan for various public administrations that supports and facilitates the academic mobility of university students and professors within the member states of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, North Macedonia and Turkey.

The design of the coin is a mixture of two main elements of the Erasmus program: the original intellectual inspiration, Erasmus himself, and the allegory of his influence in Europe. The first is symbolized by one of the best known representations of Erasmus. The second is symbolized by a bundle of links that crosses the coin from one lighthouse to another, representing the numerous intellectual and human exchanges between European students.

As a reference to Europe, some of these links form other stars, born from the synergy between the countries. Figure 35, for the 35th anniversary, emerges from the stars in a contemporary graphic style.

The issue volume for this coin is 3,000,000 pieces that will be issued on July 1, 2022 jointly with the rest of the states.
