To celebrate the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Budapest this year, the Bank of Hungary issues a commemorative circulation coin with a face of 50 guilders (€ 0.14). Also two collector coins of 2,000 and 10,000 florins, the latter in silver, which are put on sale at a price higher than their face value.

Hungary will once again host the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) between September 5 and 12, 2021. More than sixty speakers from almost forty countries from five continents will arrive in the Hungarian capital to attend this week-long international event . A rich spiritual and cultural program will enrich the Congress, at the closing of which Pope Francis will celebrate Holy Mass.

Hungary had the opportunity to celebrate one of the major events of the Catholic community for the first time in 1938. This Congress had to be postponed from 2020 to this year due to the global pandemic. After the completion of this act, the Pope will visit Slovakia until September 15.

On its obverse, the logo of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress is shown in the center. The inscription below the logo, arranged in three lines, reads "NEMZETKÖZI EUCHARISZTIKUS KONGRESSZUS" (International Eucharistic Congress). On the right, the year "2020", that is, the year in which the event was scheduled to take place, and the inscription "BUDAPEST", which refers to the venue of the Congress, appear in two lines arranged one below the other. The inscription "MAGYARORSZÁG", bordered by a circular line on the left side of the upper part, is contained within a string of pearls on the edge. The year of issue "2021" appears at the bottom, between two dots.

Coins of 10,000 and 2,000 florins
 

 The obverse of both commemorative coins have the Missionary Cross, a symbol of the world event, adapted to the coin. The Relic of the Holy Cross is displayed in the center, surrounded by the relics of Hungarian saints and other saints associated with Hungary.

Due to the international nature of the event, a detail of the English CEI logo appears in the center of the representation of the cross on the obverse. The inscription "MAGYARORSZÁG" (HUNGARY) is inscribed in a semicircular legend on the edge. The designations "10000" and "2000" appear at the bottom, to the left of the cross, and the inscription "FORINT" to the right. The year of issue "2021" and the issue mark "BP." they are inscribed in two lines, one below the other, at the base of the cross.
 

The reverse of the commemorative coins have as a central motif a representation of the custody, made for the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress. The beams of light that come out of the monstrance towards the edge of the reverse are a symbol of the light that emanates. In the background there are two groups of statues from the Plaza de los Héroes, arranged in two semicircles.

The inscription on the top of the coin reads' 52. NEMZETKÖZI EUCHARISZTIKUS KONGRESSZUS "(52nd International Eucharistic Congress), with the biblical motto of the world event:" MINDEN FORRÁSOM BELŐLED FAKAD "(All my sources are in you) inscribed at the bottom.
