The Central Reserve Bank of Peru has begun to put its new family of banknotes into circulation with the issuance of the first two values of 10 and 100 soles (2.14 and 21.40 euros, respectively) that will circulate simultaneously with the current. The new family of banknotes incorporates modern designs, new motifs and renewed security elements, paying tribute to prominent figures in the sciences and humanities of the 20th century in the Andean country, also highlighting its varied flora and fauna.

The designs have been produced by De La Rue International Limited, a prestigious English company that won the design competition organized by this Central Bank in which the main banknote printers in the world participated.

10 peso bill

The new 10 peso bill features Chabuca Granda, the vicuña and the Flor de Amancaes. The predominant color is green, it is printed on cotton and has the same dimensions as current banknotes. 140 x 65 mm

On the obverse is the image of the great composer María Isabel Granda y Larco, known worldwide as Chabuca Granda (1920 - 1983), born in Apurímac. On the left side, in the free area of impressions, the watermark is located that shows Chabuca's face against the light and the denomination in numbers within a triangle.
In addition, there is the security thread that changes color from violet to bronze and shows moving figures when the bill is turned slightly back and forth.

In the lower right corner, a geometric design printed with color-changing ink is located. When you turn the bill, this design changes from violet to bronze, showing effects of movement. On the right side of the banknote, below the value in numbers, the hidden number is located, which corresponds to the denomination 10, which can be seen by placing the banknote tangentially towards a light source.

The obverse also has relief impressions perceptible to the touch, which are located mainly in the legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ, the character, the denomination in numbers and letters and the register for the blind located on the left side edge.

The reverse of the banknote is designed in a vertical format, and shows images of the Vicuña, a symbol of Peruvian fauna and the Flor de Amancaes, an endemic species of Peru. The Coat of Arms and the denomination in numbers and letters in two colors are also appreciated.
The new banknotes also incorporate security features recognizable by equipment that identify and process cash.
