In 2022 Estonia, apart from issuing the commemorative 2-euro coin of the common type for the "35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Program", will issue, as far as we know, another 2-euro commemorative coin, in this case of the national type. The coin I am referring to is themed "150th Anniversary of the Estonian Literature Society". Today thanks to our colleague Paul (Euromunter) we know the design that the aforementioned coin will present.
The national side of the coin features a design with the Estonian name of the Society "Eesti Kirjameeste Selts", on the pages of a book and the tip of a pen. It uses a quote from the Estonian folklorist Jakob Hurt "Kui me ia saa suureks rahvaarvult, peame saama suureks vaimult", which means "If we cannot be a great nation in number, we must be great in spirit." The name of the issuing country 'Eesti' is part of the Eesti Kirjameeste Selts text.
The legend of the edge of the coin will be the same as that of the normal two-euro coins in circulation issued by Estonia.
The issue volume for this coin will be 1 million pieces of which 10,000 in Bu quality will be presented in a coincard. The expected issue date will be during the first quarter of 2022.
