One of the coins that arouses the most expectation among collectors of commemorative 2 euro coins in our country is, not surprisingly, those that are issued in Spain. Today I can already offer you the first data and the image of this piece for 2021, which continuing with the theme started in 2010 for commemorative coins of 2 euros, destined to commemorate properties and places included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, the FNMT-RCM will issue in 2021 the twelfth coin in this series, dedicated this time to the "Historic City of Toledo", which will represent two important elements of Mudejar architecture, such as the Puerta del Sol and the Transit Synagogue.
The coin is dedicated to one of the Unesco World Cultural and Natural Heritage sites in Spain. The city of Toledo was registered in the list of World Heritage sites for being an outstanding example of an architectural ensemble that illustrates a significant stage in human history.
The coin represents a view of the Puerta del Sol and a detail of the Transit Synagogue, both buildings built in the 14th century in the Mudejar style. On the left, in capital letters, the word «SPAIN» and the year of issue 2021. At the top, on the right, the mintmark.
The inscriptions on the edge of the coin will be the same as in the regular circulation coins of 2 euros in Spain. ("2 ★ ★" repeated six times and oriented alternately from bottom to top and top to bottom.)
The planned issue volume is 4,000,000 coins, its release is scheduled for February 2021.
