On April 20, 1920, the seventh Summer Olympics were inaugurated at the brand new Kiel stadium in Antwerp. For Belgium, this was a kind of compensation for the tragedy of the First World War that had just devastated its soil and its people. The 1920 Olympics hosted 2,626 athletes from 29 countries that competed in 24 different disciplines. To commemorate the event, a brass coin with a face value of 2.5 euros is issued in Belgium.

The seventh Olympiad was full of innovations. This is how, for the first time, an athlete took the Olympic oath. This was the Belgian shooter Victor Boin. It was also the first time the famous Olympic flag was raised with the five rings, each of which symbolizes a continent. Finally and also for the first time, doves were released as a symbol of peace.

The coin that has a maximum emission volume of 25,000 pieces is presented on a coincard.

The coin has been put up for sale at the price of 10 euros by the official distributor of the Belgian coins, although it will not be sent until April. Taking into account the important shipping costs from Belgium, for those who want to purchase it, the ideal is to wait for it to be officially issued and buy it here in our country.

It is also important to know that this currency will be part of the Euroset 2020 of Belgium, together with the circulation coins with the date of the current year, which will be put up for sale during the month of August.
