In the old days (even today in some communities), parents look for the bride they consider ideal for their child long before they reach the age to marry. After the two families agree, which includes gifts from the family of the groom to that of the bride in the form of cattle or horses, the so-called «Kyz Kashar» is produced, a custom to which it is dedicated the currency issued this week by the Bank of Kazakhstan, belonging to the series “Rites and national games of Kazakhstan”.

The Kyz Kashar is the moment when the future boyfriend can visit the future bride for the first time. If after this first meeting, the young man or the young woman refuses to move forward with the marriage, the party that refuses will have to return all the gifts and pay a fine.

With the same design two coins have been issued, with facials of 100 and 500 tenges. The first coined on a flan made of silver nickel and the second in 925 silver of purity and Proof quality, which also presents in some areas decorative holograms.

On the reverse of the coin is the image of a bride with a typical Kazakh headdress called Saukele that symbolizes the beginning of a new life. The headdress veil (in the 500 tenge coin) is composed of a holographic image. In the circumference of the coin images of apple branches, small birds, and flowers and fruits are represented as a symbol of fertility.

The obverse shows the common face of all the coins in this series with the coat of arms of Kazakhstan and decorative ornamental figures. On the left and right "Republic of Kazakhstan" in Kazakh on one side and in English on the other, and the face value of the coin, 100 or 500 tenges.
