We already have a design for another 2-euro commemorative coin that Malta will issue in 2020. Within the series «Prehistoric Temples of Malta» next year will be dedicated to the «Temples of Skorba». In 2016, the first of the series, «Temples of Ggantija», was issued in 2017 «Temples of Hagar Qim», in 2018 «Temples of Mnajdra» and in 2019 «Temples of Ta 'Ħaġrat». The series will be completed by those dedicated in 2021 to "Temples of Tarxien" and in 2022 to the "Hal Saflieni Hypogeum". In total the series will consist of seven currencies, same number as megalithic temples are located in Malta.
The coin presents in the center of its obverse an image of the Temples of Skorba. Above, in three horizontal lines, there is the legend “SKORBA TEMPLES 3.600 - 2.500 BC” (Before Christ), while below, in two horizontal lines, the legend of the issuing country “MALTA” and the year of issuance “ 2020 ”. The initials "NGB" of the engraver, Noel Galea Bason , appear on the right just below the subject. The 12 stars of the EU flag appear on the outer ring of the coin.
Both the date and the volume of issuance are unknown at the moment.
Remind you that the second 2 euro commemorative coin that Malta will issue next year will have as its theme «Children and Solidarity - Games».
I thank comrade Vita67 for providing me with the image of the coin, and for all the valuable information he gives us with his comments.
