The second 2-euro commemorative coin that Malta issues in this 2019 belongs to the series started in 2016 under the name «Children and Solidarity», these coins present selected designs from a contest among high school students in the country. This year the piece has the theme «Nature and Environment», it has been designed by Joshua Stuart, who attends Maria Regina College in Naxxar.
Today, October 21, the coin has been officially issued in the classic rolls of 25 coins and in a coincard with an unconventional format.
The currency has as its central theme the benevolent action of the sun, which provides heat and light, and allows trees and vegetation to grow and bear fruit. The coin was engraved by Noel Galea Bason.
The design created by Joshua Stuart, shows as a central motif with a beautiful fruit tree illuminated by the rays of a radiant sun. The name of the issuing State «Malta» and the year of issuance «2019» are shown below the silhouette of the tree. Complete the composition, as usual, the twelve stars of the European flag shown in the circular crown of the coin.
The circulation is 320,000 pieces. 300,000 issued in rolls and 20,000 in coincard, the latter have the mint mark of the Monnaie de Paris where they have all been minted.
