30 years ago the Berlin wall fell. In addition to its repercussions on German society, it was an event that had worldwide consequences. On November 9, 1989, this milestone marked the end of the cold war and announced an appeasement after several decades of international tensions. At European level, it was the first step towards the reunification of one of the main countries of the European Union. The European Union then welcomed 16 million new citizens in just one year, which meant a structural and economic effect equivalent to the accession of a new country.
The motif represents the Berlin wall, open in its center, so that it lets pass some pigeons (symbols of international appeasement) and a jubilant crowd. In the background is the Brandenburg Gate, the quintessential symbol of Berlin. The legend «30 Jahre Mauerfall» (thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall) is inscribed on one side of the wall. In the lower part of the motive is the year of issue "2019" and, on the right, the indication of the issuing country "D" (Germany). The twelve stars of the European flag appear in the circular crown of the coin.
