A coin with a design by a French artist, which in principle was to be issued only by the Monnia de Paris, has finally been shared so that the different German Mint also coin a 2-euro coin commemorating the «30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall". The German version was issued on October 10 and the French version was also on the 15th of this month. Today we will know the one issued by the French country in the different official versions in which it can be obtained.
The design of the coin represents the Berlin wall, open in its center, so that it lets pass some pigeons (symbols of international appeasement) and a jubilant crowd. In the background is the Brandenburg Gate, the quintessential symbol of Berlin. The legend "30 ans de la chute du mur de Berlin / 30 Jahre Mauerfall" (thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall) is inscribed on one side of the wall. At the bottom of the motive is the year of issuance "2019" and, on the right, the indication of the issuing country "RF" (initials of the French Republic). The twelve stars of the European flag appear in the circular crown of the coin.
The emission volume is 10 million pieces, almost all distributed in rolls. The other presentations are 10,000 wallets or blister with the currency in BU quality and another 10,000 presented in a case with the currency in Proof quality.
The fall of the wall was motivated by the opening of borders between Austria and Hungary in May 1989, as more and more Germans traveled to Hungary to request asylum in the various embassies of the German Federal Republic. This fact motivated enormous demonstrations that led to the November 9, 1989, the GDR government affirming that the passage to the west was allowed.
