Two years have passed so that the Bank of Poland issues the next coin of the "Discover Poland" series. They are circulating coins of bimetallic type with facials of 5 zlotych (1.17 €). The ninth coin, which I present to you, is dedicated to the "Monumentos de Frombork" and will be issued on May 22nd.
The coin shows the image of the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin and Saint Andrew the Apostle located in the city of Frombork.
This cathedral is famous worldwide for its connection to Copernicus. It was in 1510 when the famous Polish astronomer moved to Frombork, settling in one of its towers, where he spent the rest of his life engaged in his observations and research.
In 2005, a team of archaeologists found part of the skull and skull of Copernicus, buried under a linden tree, after various tests that ensured that it was indeed him, in May 2010 Copernicus received a second funeral and his remains were returned to Bury in the Cathedral of Frombork, where they remain today.
