In 1919, the Australian government established the Repatriation Department to oversee the vital task of taking home tens of thousands of soldiers and nurses after the First World War. A century later, we continue to provide crucial support to the Australian military and women through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Commemorating the centenary of the Repatriation Department, the Royal Australian Mint has issued a colored 2-dollar coin.
The obverse shows, like all 2-dollar coins, the portrait and name of the queen "Elizabeth II", the name of the issuing country "Australia" and the year of issue "2019".
Characteristics of the currency
Face value: 2 Australian dollars
Composition: aluminum and bronze
Diameter: 20.5 mm
Weight: 6.6 g
Apart from the currency that comes to circulation, there is a version for collectors, presented in portfolio (40,000), in which the difference is that the latter has mint mark "C".
