Continuing with the spatial theme this year, the coin belonging to the Native American Dolllar series issued by the United States Mint features Mary Golda Ross, the first Native American female engineer. One of his most important works was developed in the 50s and 60s, focusing on the study of satellite orbits and the project of Aegna space rockets, an essential component that helped put man in space through the Apollo space program. Ross related many of his successes to the importance of his tribe, the Cherokee, his great-grandfather being a leader of these, gave equal education to boys and girls, and the rich heritage of the Cherokee.

The reverse side of the Native American dollar 2019 represents the renowned engineer Mary Golda Ross doing calculations on a sheet. Behind it, on a background of stars, an Atlas-Agena rocket is launched into space with an equation inscribed in the cloud of smoke. In the upper right, an astronaut represents the "Native Americans" who have traveled to space, including John Herrington, first to be enrolled in the space program. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the face value "$ 1" complete the design work of Emily Damstra that has been recorded by Joseph Menna.

The obverse, common to all this series of US dollar coins, shows Sacagawea and his son Jean Baptiste. This indigenous woman of the Shoshone tribe accompanied and guided one of the most important reconnaissance expeditions of the US territory. The face of the coin reproduces the face of a shoshone woman of the present called Randy'L He-dow Teton, since there is no image of Sacagawea.
