The next coin that the Austrian Mint has prepared for next October 3 is the sixth and last of the Wildlife series, which represents typical animals of the European continent in their natural habitat.

After those dedicated in 2013 to the Red Stag, in 2014 to the Wild Boar, in 2015 to the Capercaillie, in 2016 to the Red Fox and in 2017 to the Alpine Ibex (Wild Goat of the Alps), in this 2018 completing the collection, the dedicated to the Duck (Mallard). Like all the coins in this series, it has a facial of 100 euros and is minted in gold.

Of the six animals in the Wildlife series, the Mallard is the only one that most of us are likely to see on a daily basis, as it is able to adapt to life in urban areas. The duck is an animal common of parks, lakes, rivers, and present in almost all the channels of western Europe.

The obverse of the coin shows a mallard surrounded by plants and flowers. Like the other coins in the series, the lower part of the front is exquisitely decorated with a beautiful design that gives the series its hallmark.

The reverse of the coin shows a landscape with the image of a family of ducks on a lake.
